M3AAWG Opens Nominations for J.D. Falk Award

Posted by Matt Blumberg on

J.D. Falk believed the online world could be better: Safer, more secure, more transparent. So he changed it. He led initiatives at M3AAWG, at IETF, at CAUCE, and here at Return Path to build technology, awareness, and consensus to make the online experience better for everyone. His legacy inspires everyone who knew him. (Readers of this blog will remember his eloquent posts and his passing last November.)

Today M3AAWG opened nominations for its first J.D. Falk Award, honoring an achievement – by anyone, a person or a team – that makes the internet better. It can be a service, a specification, a security mechanism, research – anything that meaningfully reduces abuse, protects users, and improves the online world.

We’re honored to join the Falk family and M3AAWG to create this award and to commemorate an extraordinary person and a dear friend. Please help us by thinking about the recent work you’ve seen that strengthens and protects the internet experience, and nominating a project or accomplishment that extends J.D.’s vision.

Nominations are due by September 6, 2012. The award will be presented at the upcoming 26th M3AAWG General Meeting in Baltimore (October 23-25) and will include an honorarium provided by Return Path and M3AAWG. Please click here for more information and submission details.
